After today’s blast of cold and snow, we are reminded that winter in Ontario is fast approaching and we find ourselves reminiscent of warm sunny days here on the farm.
Our thoughts wander back to May 23rd on a day that was 30+ degrees when we decided to plan a last-minute photo and video shoot in the middle of a lockdown with limited resources available to us on the Friday of the May long weekend…if you are Canadian you know May 2-4 is a BIG DEAL!
What were we thinking…???!!!
The definition of blood, sweat, and tears has never been truer BUT, we miraculously pulled it off and it was pure MAGIC!!!
The shoot took place here on the farm, SV Country Events located in Sutton West, Ontario.
This hidden gem is situated in the heart of Georgina amidst 155 acres of soy and wheat fields inclusive of a freshwater pond complete with a fountain, a five-minute drive from the ever so popular Sibald’s Point Provincial Park.
The shoot was meant as a promo piece but quickly turned into a passion project as we navigated on how to showcase the farm and all of its natural beauty, mixing classic elegance with rustic charm.
SET IN OUR HISTORIC BARN, A MIX OF TRADITIONAL BLACK & WHITE TABLES AND PLACE SETTINGS MEET COLORFUL SEASONAL FLORALS AND RUSTIC WOOD ELEMENTS WITH A TOUCH OF MODERN FLAIR TO SHOWCASE HOW THE LOVE OF THE COUNTRY CAN TURN INTO A BLACK-TIE AFFAIR.
OUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE SHOOT.
We wanted to show that SV Country Events is not just a venue for a couple looking for rustic digs but that with a little commitment, creativity, and vision it can transform into a traditional event location.
It all started off with some fabulous black and white damask table linens that we fell in love with, that got our wheels spinning, black tie is considered traditional and that was definitely the style we were going for! These linens give the space a sense of glamour and who doesn’t want to feel glamorous on their wedding day?! We added the balloon garland as a backdrop to the head table, it not only made the space stand out as a feature wall but made us feel a true party vibe, what’s a party without balloons?!
We knew we wanted the floral to stand out but yet still beam a soft beauty so we chose an array of in-season flowers including bright coral Gerbera daisies with white hydrangeas and soft peach spray roses.
The place settings consisted of white bone china also featuring a damask pattern and silver-rimmed wine goblets finished with black linens and vintage-inspired place cards. The sweetest spot…one of our favourites was the dessert cart featuring a naked frosted floral cake with matching cupcakes! YUM!!!
